Winter Special: Gajar ka halwa

Gajar ka halwa is probably one of india's most popular traditional desserts that is liked by everyone. Made with grated carrots, milk, dried fruit and nuts, here's an easy recipe to enjoy this delicacy this winter.

Gajar halwa

Ingredients

  • 3-4tbl ghee
  • 8-10 cashews
  • 8-10 pistachios
  • 3 cups carrot (shredded)
  • 1-cup milk
  • ½ cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup sugar

Method

  • In an open non-stick pan on medium flame, add ghee, cashews, pistachios and cook for about 1 min.
  • Add shredded carrot.
  • Cook the carrot on medium flame for at least 25 to 30 mins (it should get mushy and reduce in half).
  • Add milk and cook this till the mixture loses its moisture.
  • Add milk powder in small amounts at a time and stir constantly.
  • Add sugar.
  • Constantly keep stirring the halwa as it can easily stick to the pan.
  • Serve hot or cold.
