How this Indonesian Muslim community in Brisbane observes Ramadan

Get to know one of the Indonesian community organisations in Queensland, the Indonesian Islamic Society of Brisbane, and find out what their activities are during the month of Ramadan.


Founded in 1975, Indonesian Islamic Society of Brisbane (IISB) is one of the Indonesian community organisations in Brisbane. This community conducts various activities throughout the year especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Described as a forum for community gatherings, religious studies, and other social programs, IISB receives support from various segments of the community living in the southeastern side of Queensland.

SBS Indonesian spoke with IISB advisor, Deni Kurniawan, about his organisation and the special significance of this year's Ramadan
