All 250 tickets for Sisto Malaspina's street party, an event announced only yesterday by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, have sold out.
The event is intended as a homage to "the life and legacy of Melbourne hospitality legend Sisto Malaspina" and will be celebrated at a street party on Sunday 24 March, the Closing Night of the 2019 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.
Food + Wine Victoria CEO Anthea Loucas Bosha made the announcement yesterday on Crossley Street, where she was joined by City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp, the family of Sisto Malaspina and restaurateurs from neighbouring venues.
“What better way to pay tribute to one of the pioneers of our city’s café culture than to hold a street party in his honour as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival,”
“What better way to pay tribute to one of the pioneers of our city’s café culture than to hold a street party in his honour as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival,” the Lord Mayor said.
“Sisto loved our city and made people from all over the world feel welcome having a coffee in Melbourne. This incredible hospitality lives on at Pellegirini’s and the street party will give Melburnians the opportunity to come together and enjoy delicious cuisine from Pellegrini’s and their neighbours.”
74 years old Sisto Malaspina was killed on 9 November 2018, stabbed by Hassan Khalif Shire Ali during a deadly car rampage that took place in Melbourne's CBD.
