Rocco Speranza left Italy for Australia a few years ago in search of a better future, and found it. But his dad Tony has always a good word of advice for him.

Rocco Speranza arrived in Australia as a pastry chef with a passion for opera.

While baking cakes at night he studied music professionally by day. Today he works for Opera Australia and recently completed a tour of NSW's schools performing as a tenor to over 85,000 students.

Rocco has also released a new bilingual CD singing some of the most famous Italian and British songs.

Tony Speranza came to Australia to visit (or check on) his son and talking to SBS Italian he says he is proud of what Rocco has achieved and he is looking forward to go and see his son perform at the prestigious New York Columbus Day Italian Song Festival.

In this exclusive interview to SBS Italian, father and son tell how difficult it is for parents and migrating children to separate.
