Marco Giorgianni, the mayor of Lipari, meets the Aeolian community of Australia.

The history of the islands of Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Stromboli, Panarea, Filicudi and Alicudi, has been determined by the seismic activity of volcanoes since its origins, which has also brought the Sicilian islands closer to Australia, from the early 1900s.

The link between the Aeolian Islands and Australia started a long time ago and is still strong, as the mayor of Lipari, Marco Giorgianni, and the president of the Aeolian Island Society, Sam Portelli, said to SBS Italian.
