How to give the last goodbye in times of coronavirus

Since the coronavirus emergency began, governments in many countries have decided to limit the number of people who can participate in religious and civil rituals, such as weddings and funerals. This means - among other things - that if a loved one passed away it would be practically impossible to give them a last goodbye.


Dr Emanuela Brusadelli is a Lecturer and Clinical Psychotherapist at the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wollongong, and these days she has also dealt with the consequences on our mental health of these further limitations. We asked her how to manage this emergency also from a psychological point of view.
