Veneto, Sicily, Piedmont and Lombardy are asking the Government to reopen on May, 4, while aged care facilities end up under investigation.

In Italy, the number of new COVID-19 infections remains at a minimum level since the start of the pandemic; in the last 24 hours, there has been a drop in hospitalisation and the number of people in hospitals has increased. Nevertheless, the alert in Lombardy continues to remain high.

With the first signs of recovery, some regions are keenly pushing to start "Phase 2" of the lockdown and resume activities from May, 4. Lombardy, whose governor Fontana has spoken of a "Lombard-Venetian way to freedom", is particularly vocal.

Meanwhile, a new investigation by the ministry has swept the Pio Albergo Trivulzio in Milan and other structures for elderly people in the region. Andrea Eusebio, Ala News journalist, reports.
