The Italian-American community unites to fight the pandemic

In the US, there are 210 thousand confirmed cases of people positive to COVID-19, the deaths toll exceeded 4700. In numbers, it is the biggest outbreak at the moment.


In the United States, there are 210 thousand confirmed cases of people positive to COVID-19, the deaths toll exceeded 4700. In numbers, it is the biggest outbreak at the moment.

New York is at the centre of the pandemic, with over 80,000 infections and nearly 1000 victims. The governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that Americans will have to live with the consequences of the coronavirus for a long time and that "the situation will never return back to normal, but to a new normal".

Silvana Mangione from New York, CGIE deputy secretary general, had more on the situation and spoke of the challenges the Italian-American community in particular is facing at the moment.
