The episode of this exciting program tells the story of the Vajont Dam, which was supposed to be the crown jewel of Italian hydroelectric power sitting between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Completed in 1960, the dam was the highest in Europe and was positioned beneath the imposing Mount Toc. Everything seemed to be normal in the three years following its completion, until the 9th of October 1963, when 270 million cubic meters of land detached from the mountainside causing the overflow of the dam. This caused a real tsunami that completely covered the villages in the valley, killing more than 2000 people.
