Renowned Nepali writer Ram Babu Subedi turns 80 today, according to the Nepali calendar. Born in Kaski in 1947, May 27, Subedi is best known for children’s songs he penned, such as ‘Aitabar Bihanai’, ‘Mero Gaun Jyamire’ and many more. With more than three decades of teaching experience at institutions including Budhanilkantha School in Kathmandu and Eton College in the UK, he has also been honoured with numerous literary awards. In this podcast trailer, Nepal correspondent Girish Subedi speaks with Ram Babu Subedi about the story and inspiration behind the iconic children's song ‘Mero Gaun Jyamire’.
