The Melton Nepali Community has received funding under the Australian government's Community Language Schools Grants Program to operate a Nepali language school in Melbourne's western suburbs. On May 4, the Federal Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Multicultural Affairs and International Education, Julian Hill, informed the organisation of the grant approval, which is aimed at helping Australian children from multicultural backgrounds stay connected with their parents and communities through language. SBS Nepali spoke with Melton Nepali Community President Narayan Dahal about the steps taken to establish the school currently running every week in Aintree, challenges faced along the way and the process followed to secure the federal grant.
