Various attachment theories propose that parents who foster a secure environment for their children during their formative years will continue to hold significance throughout their lives. Sydney-based psychologist Pratibha Maharjan says that the loss of a parent, particularly a mother, can have enduring effects on an individual's personality development. Maharjan spoke to SBS Nepali about the pivotal role of a mother and strategies to cope with the loss of a parent.
