The path to Treaty in Victoria has reached a major milestone. Last Tuesday, the Victorian Government introduced the Statewide Treaty Bill into Parliament, a historic move that will see the First People’s Assembly of Victoria become a permanent, independent body. The Bill lays the foundation for stronger self-determination and long-term positive outcomes for First Nations people across the state.

The First People’s Assembly of Victoria, which represents Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities, has been leading negotiations with the government to ensure that the voices of First Peoples are at the heart of this process.

NITV Radio’s Kerri-Lee Barry spoke with Co-Chair of the First Peoples Assembly of Victoria, Rueben Berg.
