The Koori Knockout isn’t just about the games being played out on the field, it’s about the generations who’ve kept culture strong and community connected. This year, NITV stepped into the Elders Tent to listen, learn and share in the yarns of those who’ve been part of the Knockout since its early days.

For many Elders, the Knockout is a time of reunion and a space to catch up with old friends, see the younger ones run to represent their mob. Between laughter, stories and cups of tea, the tent was filled with warmth, wisdom and pride.

Elders play a vital role in our communities, they are the keepers of knowledge, culture and stories. Their presence at the Knockout reminds everyone that this gathering is much more than a sporting event. It’s a living expression of culture, resilience and family.

As the crowds cheered and the games carried on, the Elders Tent remained a grounding place, a reminder of where we’ve come from, and the strength that continues to guide us forward.
