32-year-old Jaspreet Singh Uppal was sitting inside his vehicle in Hamilton when he was shot at by a man at around 10.30 pm on May 12th.
Mr Uppal who hails from Nadala village near Kapurthala in the northern Indian state of Punjab suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
According to the Hamilton police reports, Mr Uppal was rushed to the Fort Hamilton Hospital and was later airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital where he is currently fighting for his life.
He had shifted to the US along with his wife and four young kids nearly eight years ago and at present operates a trolley business in the city of Cincinnati.
The police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Hamilton, Broderick Malik Jones Roberts in connection with the crime.
Mr Roberts was on Friday indicted of several felony charges including aggravated robbery, felonious assault and having weapons under disability, according to the Butler County Court documents.

According to the court records, Mr Roberts is a proclaimed offender who was previously jailed in 2016 for pleading guilty to trespass, unlawful restraint and assault.
Meanwhile, the Sikh community living in the US has expressed their sorrow and have offered assistance to the victim’s family.
