Amid heated political debates around immigration policies, Federal Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Dr Anne Aly, emphasised the importance of politicians choosing their words carefully. Stating that there has been a rise in anti-migration sentiment, Dr Aly said that the appointment of Jacinta Nampijinpa Price could be interpreted as an 'endorsement' of some of Ms Price's previous comments. Ms Price had earlier stated that the government is accepting a 'large number' of Indian migrants to boost votes for the Labour Party. Dr Aly called the claim "false" and said that migration policies are not based on voting preferences. Listen to this podcast to hear the exclusive chat with Dr Anne Aly.

Addressing the Indian Australian community, Dr Aly said, "The 'dada' and 'dadi' of the past who sacrificed and toiled so their children could have a better future.....Your belonging to this nation should not come into question."
