After a successful academy night, liturgy and family picnic day in Sydney, celebrations will continue this week in Melbourne as the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates 800 years of autocephaly and 70 years of church life in Australia.

The Serbian Orthodox Church this week celebrates two important jubilees; 800 years of autocephaly and 70 years of the church in Australia and New Zealand.

Joining SBS Radio in the studio today were Father Vladislav Sipovac and Father Aleksandar Savic to talk more about Melbourne's upcoming events.

At 5pm on the 14th September, a service will be held at the St. Sava Church in Greensborough followed by a cultural and academic program put together by school children, choirs and various folkloric ensembles from the whole of Victoria.

The following Sunday, 15th September, a liturgy will be held from 9:30a, at the St. Stefan Chruch in Keysborough which will be followed by a program in the church hall.
