A new study has found that 24-hour public transport over weekends in Melbourne hasn't improved night-time safety in the city.
The Deakin University research, published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs, shows there's been no change in the number of assaults, ambulance attendances or crashes in areas serviced by extra public transport hours.
The 24-hour weekend timetable was introduced in 2017 after a 12-month trial.
