‘சாதி அடிப்படையிலான இட ஒதுக்கீடு மேலும் விரிவுபடுத்தப்பட வேண்டும்’- பேரா. ரவிவர்மகுமார்

இந்தியாவில் 50 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலான சட்ட அனுபவம் கொண்ட பேராசிரியர் ரவிவர்மகுமார் அவர்கள் கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தின் முன்னாள் Advocate General ஆவார். இந்தியாவில் சமூக நீதியும் இடஒதுக்கீடும் குறித்த அரசியலமைப்பு சட்ட நிபுணராக பரவலாக அறியப்படுகிறார். கர்நாடக மாநில பின்தங்கிய வகுப்புகள் ஆணையத்தின் நிறுவனர் தலைவரான அவர், சில சர்வதேச நாடுகளின் அரசியலமைப்பு வடிவமைப்பில் சமூக நீதி, இட ஒதுக்கீடு கொள்கைகள் சேர்க்கப்படுவதில் பங்களித்துள்ளார். இந்தியாவில் மண்டல் வழக்கு முதல் EWS வழக்கு வரை முக்கிய இடஒதுக்கீடு தொடர்பான வழக்குகளில் அவர் வாதாடியுள்ளார். தற்போது உச்சநீதிமன்றம் மற்றும் கர்நாடக உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் மூத்த வழக்கறிஞராகவும், முக்கிய குற்ற வழக்குகளில் Special Public Prosecutor ஆகவும் பணியாற்றி வரும் பேராசிரியர் ரவிவர்மா குமார் அவர் மெல்பனில் நடைபெற்ற Fourth International Humanists Conference யில் கலந்துகொள்ள ஆஸ்திரேலியாவுக்கு வருகை தந்திருந்தார். அவரை சிட்னி SBS ஒலிப்பதிவு கூடத்தில் வைத்து சந்தித்து உரையாடியவர் றைசெல்.

Prof. Ravivarma Kumar is a senior constitutional expert and former Advocate General of Karnataka, with over 50 years of legal practice. He is the Founder Chairman of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes and a leading authority on social justice and affirmative action. He contributed to embedding social justice principles in South Africa’s Constitution and drafted the farmers’ rights charter that later became the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants (2018). Prof. Kumar has argued landmark reservation cases in India, from the Mandal case to the EWS case, and currently practises as a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Karnataka, India. RaySel spoke to Prof. Ravivarma Kumar at the SBS Sydney studio during his visit to Australia to participate in Fourth International Humanists Conference held in Melbourne last year.
