The NSW state government swiftly introduced hate crime laws following the discovery of a caravan filled with explosives in Dural, north-west Sydney.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the explosive-laden caravan was part of a criminal scam. In response, the Greens have accused the government of using the incident as a pretext to push through stringent legislation and are now calling for its repeal.
