வருடாந்திர Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras அணிவகுப்பைக் கொண்டாட இரண்டு இலட்சத்திற்கும் அதிகமான மக்கள் சிட்னியில் கடந்த வார இறுதியில் கூடினார்கள். 47வது வருடமாக நடக்கும் இந்தத் திருவிழாவின் இந்த வருட கருப்பொருள், சுதந்திரமாக இருத்தல் என்ற பொருள்பட, “Free to be” என்பதாகும். ஆனால் இந்த வருட அணிவகுப்பில் NSW காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் அணிவகுத்துச் செல்ல அனுமதிக்கப்படுவார்களா இல்லையா என்ற சர்ச்சை நீண்ட நாட்கள் நடந்தது. இது குறித்த செய்தியின் பின்னணியை எடுத்து வருகிறார் குலசேகரம் சஞ்சயன்.

Thousands walked the streets of Sydney last weekend to celebrate the 47th Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Close to 200 floats travelled from Hyde Park to Moore Park, with tens of thousands of spectators watching from the sidelines.
