The Iyer Brothers honoured with Australia’s highest award for their service to music
The Iyer Brothers, renowned exponents of Carnatic veena music, have been recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for their service to the community through music. With over 52 years of contribution to the field, the duo has played a significant role in preserving and promoting Carnatic music, particularly the veena tradition, through performances, teaching, and cultural initiatives both in Australia and internationally.
