Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiyar was born on December 11, 1882 in Ettayapuram, Tamil Nadu, India. He was a great poet, writer and philosopher; and was involved in the Indian independence movement. Writer and researcher, Ilasai Manian was born in the same town, Ettayapuram.
