To be stuffed literally means you’re really full after eating – so full that it feels uncomfortable.

But Aussies and British people also use it in other ways — to say they’re tired, exhausted, or even in trouble.

So, you can hear the phrase ‘to be stuffed’ it in all kinds of situations:

When you’ve eaten too much:

  • I’m stuffed after that huge lunch!

You can use it when you are in trouble:

  •  I’m stuffed if I don’t finish this report on time.

When you want to say that you’re exhausted or worn out:

  • I’m stuffed after looking after my niece all day – she has so much energy!

If something is broken or gone wrong.

  • I dropped my phone and now it’s stuffed.

If you feel overwhelmed with work or tasks:

  • I’m stuffed this week with all these deadlines.
