7/06/2022/ The latest news from Ukraine. The war. Day 103: battle for Sieverodonetsk, cross-border attacks on Chernihiv, Sumy regions, Ukraine’s stolen metal, grain. Just over one hundred days ago, Vladimir Putin bet the house on war in Ukraine. Before February 24, Moscow occupied 7 percent of the country; now it controls 20 percent. One-third of Ukrainians have fled their homes. The United Nations says more than 100 acts of sexual violence have occured in Ukraine since Russian forces invaded and warned that further risk of trafficking is "alarmingly evident." Vassily Nebenzia, the Russian ambassador denied the accusations, saying the allegations are unfounded, then stormed out of the meeting. Pramila Patten, the U-N's special representative on sexual violence in conflict addressed the Security Council along with Natalia Karbowska, the director at The Ukrainian Women's Fund who said human rights activists and law enforcement agencies estimate that hundreds of cases have been committed by Russian forces.
