SBS Ukrainian interviewed filmmaker Stefan Bugryn from Melbourne. Wew spoke about the premiere of 'The Way Home' at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival.
«Шлях додому» буде показано в рамках фестивалю опісля документального фільму «Чим довше ти кровоточиш» ("The Longer you Bleed"), який розповідає про життя переміщених українців у Берліні, які борються з сюрреалістичним жахом спостереження за своєю батьківщиною в облозі через історії та стрічки новин в Instagram.
“The Way Home,” a short film by Melbourne filmmaker and member of Victoria’s Ukrainian community Stefan Bugryn, tells of the journey home from Siberia of Maksym, a farmer arrested and exiled during the forced collectivisation of the 1930s.
Short film ‘The Way Home’ : After Stalin ordered the forced collectivisation of all the farms in 1930s Ukraine, Maxim, a humble cucumber farmer, rebels. He is arrested by local authorities and shipped off to forced labour camps of SIberia. In a bid to survive and return to his family, he steals away in the dead of night and begins the 1,000km journey home...
“The Way Home” will be followed by the feature documentary “The Longer You Bleed” about the lives of Ukrainians displaced to Berlin by the war.
