Automotive industry professional Bilal Hassan explained why vehicle servicing and maintaining a logbook are far more important in Australia than in Pakistan.
Speaking to SBS, Bilal Hassan, who has worked in the automotive industry for the past five years, said that vehicles undergo a comprehensive inspection during servicing in Australia, whereas in Pakistan, servicing often involves little more than an oil change.
He said tyres are also checked and rotated during each service to ensure they wear evenly. According to Hassan, European vehicles are generally serviced every 10,000 kilometres, while petrol-powered Toyota vehicles are typically serviced every 15,000 kilometres or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Highlighting the importance of a logbook, Hassan said it provides a complete record of a vehicle’s servicing history and can also help improve its resale value. He explained that a logbook can be maintained by any qualified mechanic and does not necessarily have to be serviced exclusively through a dealership.
Hassan advised buyers to check whether a vehicle has a logbook and whether it has been properly maintained before purchasing it, as this can reduce the likelihood of problems with the vehicle in the future.
