Migrants often see Darwin as remote and disconnected from Australia’s major cities. Yet a major International Women's Day celebration with a grand community Iftar event challenged that perception. It highlighted the city as a vibrant hub of social cohesion and multiculturalism.
On Sunday, 22 June, the Pakistan Association of Northern Territory hosted an International Women’s Day and multicultural Ramadan Iftar in Darwin, bringing together around 800 people to break their fast.
The gathering showcased unity across cultures and faiths, reinforcing Darwin’s growing identity as a diverse and inclusive community.
