Today, we begin with a word that, in our times, has for some shifted from a symbol of support to something closer to criticism—even mockery: feminism. Melbourne is currently at the centre of a major global conversation on women’s rights, as Women Deliver 2026 brings together leaders, activists and policymakers from around the world. But the question is—when we look at the West and South Asia, particularly countries like Pakistan and India, is the struggle for women’s rights really the same?

For our guest today, the debate is framed differently. She argues that the problem is not the word itself, but how it is misunderstood—because this is not a battle between women and men, but a question of human rights.

Joining us is acclaimed journalist Akanksha Saxena, who has worked with BBC, TRT and Deutsche Welle.
