In today’s modern age, have you ever seen a young person organising their life with pen and paper? Or have we all become so lost in the glow of screens that the scent of ink is now just a distant memory? In this fast-paced world, where every moment is tied to the sound of notifications, there are still some who know the art of slowing down and truly living. Today, we introduce you to one such unique young individual—someone who is not distant from technology, but not enslaved by it either.

I met Daniel Toh, originally from Hong Kong, on a gently cool evening in Melbourne at a quiet café by the banks of the Yarra River. The city lights shimmered on the water, and amid the noise of the world around him, he seemed immersed in a strange, calming silence.

In his hands was a simple notebook… and an old fountain pen. With beautiful calligraphy, he was filling the pages of his diary - writing as if he were feeling every word, not merely recording it.

He is not completely detached from screens… but neither is he enslaved by them. He isn’t addicted to constant notifications, nor is he drawn to the glitter of social media. For him, time doesn’t just pass… it pauses too.
