One of the world’s most iconic nature magazines named Perth as one of the must-visit destinations of the year 2019. We asked a few Perthians to tell us what's so special about their city.

National Geographic has included WA’s capital on a list of the most exciting travel destinations for 2019. Perth was ranked 26 out of the 28 destinations featured for its biggest attraction: its remoteness. According to the magazine, “Perth’s remote location has kept the Left Coast surf-and-sun spot a bit of a best-kept secret.”

But tourists see a city with an entirely different angle than those who are planning to migrate and settle in. We talked to three people from the migrant community in Perth and asked them if and how Perth makes a perfect destination for both groups of people.

Rita Kaushal is originally from India, and Brendon Lobo and Natasha De Sousa are both from Pakistan. They have all been living in Perth for years and say they are absolutely smitten with the city's beauty and lifestyle that is offered to people of all ages, background and in different stages of their lives.

They also talked about issues such as liveability, jobs and wages, family life, safety and racism.
