Mango festivals across Australia are not only showcasing the unique flavour of Pakistani mangoes but are also playing an important role in bringing Australia's multicultural communities closer together.
The Mango Mela and Basant (Kite) Festival, held in Sydney on Sunday, 12 July, attracted thousands of attendees. The event was made especially significant by the presence of New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, Punjab Government Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, local politicians, and representatives from diverse community groups.
At the event, special guests included New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, Punjab Government Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, local members of parliament, Pakistan’s Consul General in Sydney, community leaders, and other distinguished guests.
In his address, Premier Chris Minns said that Australia’s true strength lies in its multicultural society, where people from different backgrounds, religions, and cultures come together to celebrate their traditions.
On the other hand, preparations are underway for the Mango Festival scheduled to be held in Canberra, the federal capital, on 26 July. At the pre-launch event last week, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Australia, Irfan Shaukat, said the Canberra Mango Festival would showcase Pakistani culture, hospitality, and the beauty of Australia’s multicultural society.
