Victoria Police are investigating an alleged assault and racially charged incident targeting a Pakistani taxi driver in South Melbourne, which left the driver with serious facial injuries. Listen to the conversation with the affected driver in this podcast.


Victoria Police report that the incident took place on Cecil Street, South Melbourne, in the early hours. Investigators say a man entered a taxi, lay across the back seat, and refused to fasten his seatbelt. When the driver asked him to get out, the man allegedly attacked the driver before fleeing the scene.
The driver sustained serious facial injuries. Investigations are ongoing.
