How did the Chakwal shooting unfold? Adeel Ahmed shares his family’s ordeal.

According to Pakistani-Australian Adeel Ahmed from Perth, the shooting began when personnel from the Crime Control Department (CCD) opened fire, prompting the alleged robbers to return fire before fleeing the scene. Ahmed said that as he tried to move his family to safety, CCD personnel continued firing. As a result, he and his son were injured, while his nine-year-old daughter, Hania ahmed, was fatally shot.

According to Pakistani-Australian Adeel Ahmed from Perth, the shooting began when personnel from the Crime Control Department (CCD) opened fire, prompting the alleged robbers to return fire before fleeing the scene. Ahmed said that as he tried to move his family to safety, CCD personnel continued firing. As a result, he and his son were injured, while his nine-year-old daughter, Hania ahmed, was fatally shot.


Adeel Ahmed said his daughter, Hania, was born in Australia and was an Australian citizen. He said he plans to write to the Australian government, urging it to engage with the Pakistani authorities to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident and justice for his family.

Ahmed said his family had suffered a grave injustice and that he wanted everyone responsible for the incident to be identified and held accountable in accordance with the law.

He said he is seeking justice from the relevant authorities in both Pakistan and Australia, hoping for an impartial investigation into his daughter’s death and for those responsible to face legal consequences.

Mirza Sajid, a local journalist from Chakwal who has been covering the incident, told SBS Urdu that the entire area has been engulfed in grief following the tragedy, while the affected family and their relatives continue to await justice. He said that CCD officials issued differing statements at various stages after the incident, highlighting the need for a thorough and transparent investigation.

Meanwhile, in a press release, the District Police Officer (DPO) Chakwal said a criminal case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Police said a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will also be constituted to conduct a comprehensive inquiry, examine all aspects of the case, and determine responsibility.
