Kyah Simon made her debut for Australia when she was just 16.
"When you're playing the game you love, you do whatever it takes to win the game or to succeed in what you’re doing," she says.
In an interview with Living Black Conversations host Karla Grant, Simon explains how hard she's worked to don the green and gold and represent her country and her people.
"When we sing our national anthem at the start of a game and I look at the Australian flag, I always see that Aboriginal flag behind it and I know I’ve got an extra pride to represent."
The Matildas striker is clawing her way back to the top after being tearing her anterior cruciate ligament last month.
The injury means will miss next May's Asian Cup, which also doubles up as the qualifying tournament for the World Cup.
But this 22-year old says she will be using the next 12 months that she's on the bench to inspire young Aboriginal kids to live healthy lifestyles and chase their dreams.
