“I know I was thrown into professional sport at a very young age and a lot of the mistakes I've made along the way have helped me to understand the position I'm in...and the responsibilities that I have with my job,” Beale told Living Black Conversations.

In a revealing interview with Living Black Conversations host Karla Grant, the former Wallaby reveals some intimate moments of his career, including a possible move to Rugby League.

The 24-year-old’s difficult past includes a suspension from the Melbourne Rebels after an overseas altercation with teammates and a stint in rehab for substance abuse issues.

“I think what got me into that tough period was me worrying about everyone else and not doing whats right for Kurtley,” he said.

The versatile Beale, who can play both fly-half and full-back, has now resigned with the Waratahs.

According to Coach, Michael Cheika, he will be a welcome addition to the club which identified his boundless talent when he was just 16.

“I think that little bit of X factor, the ability to focus when the games tight, he will be able to unlock the opposition, he will be able to produce that little bit of magic, to win us games,” said Cheika.

While contracted to the Waratahs until 2014, a number of NRL and overseas clubs have shown interest in Beale.
