The federal government will make a fresh appeal to the Senate to pass family payment changes in a bid to find budget savings.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told parliament the cabinet had considered the reaction of the Senate to the previous package outlined in the 2014 budget.
Social Services Minister Christian Porter had been working very carefully to ensure that a revised family payments reform package will strike a balance between achieving significant savings while still providing sufficient financial support to those families most in need.
The details of the bill - approved by the coalition joint party room on Tuesday - will be revealed when Mr Porter introduces it as early as Wednesday.

Media reports have suggested the government has offered to stop Family Tax Benefit Part B payments when a child turns 12, instead of six years of age.
There could also be a boost to payments for single-income families.
