UK Election: Immigration Faultlines

Immigration is a major issue for voters in this week's UK election, so Dateline looks at the faultlines that have appeared on just one British street.

UK Election: Immigration Faultlines

The UK goes to the polls on Thursday, and it’s set to be a close-run contest after five years of coalition rule.

But while the result may be far from predictable, it is clear that immigration is a major issue for voters.

Nowhere is that more obvious than on Ethelbert Road in Margate… a seaside town just across the water from mainland Europe.

It’s home to a mix of people from Britain and Eastern Europe - and they’re anything but good neighbours.

One of their election candidates is UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage, who’s long been outspoken on the subject.

So Paraic O’Brien chose this street to show the faultlines behind the 2015 election contest.

Apologies, but this video is no longer available for copyright reasons.
