Documents filed by lawyers for Novak Djokovic have confirmed the basis for his medical exemption to compete in the Australian Open was prior COVID-19 infection and recovery last month.


The issue will be canvassed in detail as part of the tennis star's legal challenge against his visa cancellation, which is set to come before the Federal Circuit Court on Monday.

The saga has now become a diplomatic incident involving Serbia, as President Aleksandar Vucic gets personally involved in the case.
