There has been broad condemnation of One Nation's migration policy that proposes cutting Australia's intake by 750,000 over three years.
National Farmers Federation President Hamish McIntyre has told channel nine's today progran one in seven farm workers is a working holiday maker, and One Nation's proposed visa changes could make it harder for some growers to plant crops.
Cabinet Minister Murray Watt says the economic impact alone makes the plan a recipe for economic disaster.
"Even this morning the National Farmers Federation president has been in the media pointing out that this is a terrible policy for Australian farmers, would deprive them of the workers that they need, and would drive up the price of food for Australians in the supermarkets."
Former Nationals leader and now backbench MP David Littleproud has also weighed in.
He says he does not believe One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has thought the policy through.
"It's not about ideology. It's not about headlines. It's actually about getting the right settings in your policy to make sure you don't have an unintended consequence. That's what One Nation aren't caring about it. They never have. It's all care and no responsibility."
Queensland Liberal MP Colin Boyce has been more guarded, refusing to comment on speculation that One Nation's migration policy is gazumping the Coalition's position.
He says migration is not in itself a bad thing - it's just the numbers that leaders need to agree on.
"I think we should trim our immigration policy, absolutely. There's too many people coming in at the moment; we need to get that down to a reasonable level. Exactly what that number is, is highly questionable."

Canada is weighing up a potential associate membership of the European Union.
The union has not been flexible about membership rules in the past, but is reportedly open to the idea of granting Canada a yet-to-be-created status of associate membership, and are already discussing ways of allowing Canada's goods, services and workers in strategic supply chains to move freely.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the move is due to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wanting a closer relationship with the EU, amid Canada's escalating trade war with the United States.
But Prime Minister Carney says the nation is not looking to become an EU member.
"What we are looking at beginning - will begin discussions for a unique alliance with the European Union, between Canada and the European Union. We share the same values. We have the same priorities, and we have very complementary strengths. We're stronger together. And this is at a time when the world's more dangerous and divided, and friends need to stick together at these times."

An Australian man has been found dead in Indonesia, alongside his two young children who are aged four and six.
The 56-year-old man from Fremantle was discovered with the children in their villa in Kuta, Bali, after their mother became worried during a phone call from Jakarta.
The bodies were discovered after Bali police carried out a welfare check.
An investigation is now underway to determine how they died.

Alexander Zverev has won the men's US Open title, with a four-set win over Ben Shelton.
It is the 29-year-old's second Grand Slam title for the year, after the 2026 French Open - but it is the first time he's won this tournament.
Zverev triumphed in three hours and 33 minutes - though it took him a few moments to realise he had won.
UMPIRE: "Game, set, match, Zverev, three sets to one: 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2."
