Wildfires are continuing to cause widespread destruction across parts of the United States.
In Washington state, three fires around Spokane have destroyed about 850 buildings and forced roughly 67-thousand people to evacuate.
In California, the Gann Fire has burned more than 7-thousand acres, damaged several structures and triggering evacuation orders.
Meanwhile in Greece, volunteers have rescued more than 280 animals from a major blaze near Athens.
Rescue organiser Elena Dede says conditions were overwhelming.
"We literally couldn't move because there was so much heat and the fire was so aggressive, it was changing directions all the time and we knew that something really massive and big will happen. It was a mega fire and it was really hard for every volunteer and every person involved, really to survive the smoke and the stress.“

A Melbourne shopkeeper has died after he was allegedly attacked while trying to stop a group of young shoplifters.
Police say 60-year-old Van Viet Truong went to help another retail worker during an incident at Sunshine in Melbourne’s west on Saturday.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died yesterday afternoon.
Four teenagers are charged with offences including violent disorder and intentionally causing serious injury, while charges against a 13-year-old boy have been withdrawn.

A federal Inquiry into racism toward Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people has heard a First Nations advocacy group deletes hundreds of racist comments from its social media pages weekly.
The inquiry is continuing its hearings in Melbourne today and has heard from Djaran Murray-Jackson, the co chair of Gellung Warl, a first people's representative body in Victoria.
Mr Murray-Jackson says the extremes of violent racism are being experienced in his community and online.
"During 2023, we reached out to Meta with examples of 300 accounts that we'd blocked. Meta responded to us saying that they did not deem the comments were racist. That racism online has only gotten worse with an uptick of bots based overseas spreading hate. We now delete hundreds of comments perweek on Gellung Warl's social media accounts that spread overtly racist rhetoric, with a targeted political agenda."

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson is backing Matt King for success after his appointment as New South Wales Blues coach.
King will leave the Roosters at the end of the NRL season after almost a decade as an assistant coach.
Robinson says the Blues role is a natural fit for King.
"He's ended up with one that aligns with him more so than any other job that he could have taken in NRL, in super league, this one aligns with him and his nature."
King will take charge of New South Wales for the 2027 State of Origin series.
