Firefighter dies in NSW as fire fronts ease

A divisional commander has been killed by a falling tree during the bushfire operation north of Newcastle. Several fires continue to burn across eastern Australia, with 39 homes lost in New South Wales and Tasmania. While the fire fronts have eased in NSW an investigation is underway into the cause of a devastating fire in Koolewong.
