A picture of an Aboriginal man playing Santa in Gunbalanya in the Northern Territory has been circulating the Internet in December.
The image was posted on Reddit alongside the message: "A friend of mine worked at a remote community of the Northern Territory. This is Christmas at Gunbalanya. (x-post from r/Australia)," the post reads as reported by the Daily Mail.

The post generated positive discussion about the change from the usual Caucasian Santas who families visit during Christmas festivities around Australia.
"What an awesome image," wrote user wimmywam. "I was lucky enough to know an elder at a remote community in Cape York when I was a young fella, and even made me my very own didgeridoo.
"Those communities are such amazing places."
Gunbalanya, also known as Oenpelli, is an Aboriginal community with a population under 1,000, according to the 2006 census, and where the main languages spoken are Kunwinjku, Burrarra and Kriol.
