NITV and Screen Territory Micro-Docs Science Documentary Initiative

NITV is partnering with Screen Territory to commission five innovative short-form documentaries (each up to five minutes long) profiling the practice of Northern Territory-based Indigenous scientists (working in but not limited to the environment, astronomy, physics, technology, meteorology, engineering, etc.). These documentaries will be produced between December 2015 and March 2016 and will screen on NITV and NITV online.

Screen Territory and NITV are inviting interested Indigenous filmmakers to submit the following:

  • A 100 word biography of the selected scientist
  • A 100 word pitch detailing style and approach
  • A video pitch about the filmmaking team and / or key creative bios

This material should be sent to Screen Territory and NITV via Grants-Tracker: https://nretasgrants.nt.gov.au/GT7/Portal/

Submissions must be received before 9.30am (EDST), Monday 21 September 2015.

NITV and Screen Territory will short-list up to five filmmaking teams from the submissions. We are looking for films that take risks with their approach to storytelling. We also require at least two out of the three key creatives to be Indigenous. Each team must have at least one screen credit between them.

These documentaries will be made by Writer-Director-Producer teams selected by Screen Territory and NITV and mentored by an experienced documentary series producer.

Further information on Dark Science can be found at: http://www.artsandmuseums.nt.gov.au/ntfo/grants/strategic

Following consideration and possible discussion with selected teams, Screen Territory and NITV will notify the successful teams. NITV and Screen Territory’s decision will be final.
