Macquarie street was transformed into a sea of red as fifteen hundred school students from across New South Wales marched down Macquarie Street.
Twelve girls from Bourke known as ‘The Tough Tiddaz’ led the inaugural parade.
They form part of a resilience program for girls that aims to improve education and enhance self-esteem.
The students made their way to Government House for a picnic and a concert in Hyde Park hosted by Governor General Marie Bashir.
The festival is about celebrating and recognising Australia's Indigenous heritage and culture.
Corroberee will continue for the next ten days, with an opening ceremony and concert being held tonight at Corroboree Club, Pier 2.
