Cyclone Blanche nearing WA, more intense

North-West braces for cyclone's impact.

Fierce gales are developing along the northern coast of Western Australia as Cyclone Blanche intensifies, with gusts up to 120km/h developing between the border of the Northern Territory and WA.

The cyclone is now a category two system and moving southwest, with the weather bureau expecting it'll cross the Kimberley coast later today.

Winds could reach a destructive 150km/h between Kalumburu and Wyndham, with residents there warned to prepare to take shelter.
