The new Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion, says there needs to be a new relationship between the government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Mr Scullion says he would like to see Indigenous people take more control of community services.

And he says he will work toward encouraging Indigenous people to take more responsibility for school attendance and employment.

Nigel Scullion outlined his goals to NITV's Natalie Ahmat.
