A staffer working for VIctorian Greens MP, Lidia Thorpe has resigned after posting a series of offensive tweets about pedophilia, domestic violence, feminism and Muslims

It emerged on Monday that the posts were allegedly written by Paul McMillan, who worked for the Greens Member of Northcote.

Ms Thorpe said she is "shocked, disappointed and frustrated" at the offensive messages and said the staffer has since offered to resign.

"The Victorian Greens are led by women, run by women and represented by women. There is no place for these comments and I have accepted his resignation."

Ms Thorpe, a Gunnai-Gunditjmara woman, became the first Aboriginal woman elected to Victoria's parliament after winning a November 2017 by-election.
