About 300 people have worked up a sweat for a good cause, raising money for animal welfare organisation WIRES at an early morning boxing session in Redfern.

The bootcamp was held at the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, and organised by Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation.
The event also included a silent auction, with footy star Latrell Mitchell's Australian jersey among the items up for grabs.

Tribal Warrior CEO Shane Phillips said he was amazed by the community's support.

"The young ones wanted to make sure that our animals are being looked after," he said.

"Them being able to do this gives them the opportunity to give back and help other people."
