Koori Youth Forum Welcome to Country performance

The Bankstown Arts Centre hosted a day of a cultural learning, where students were taught traditional Darug dance, language and art.

Indigenous Arts Officer and Aborignal worker at Bankstown's Youth Development Service hopes the event will remind young Aboriginal people of their cultural identity and heritage.

“Everyone else knows their cultures, but Aboriginal kids growing up in the urban place don’t know there culture as much, so I'm trying to link the Aboriginal kids with people who know about traditional culture,” says Mr Bishop.

Summer holiday workshops focussed on cultural learning will be held at the Bankstown Arts Centre from January 13-24.
